Dear sirs,
Dean Forest Voice (DFV)
wish to register an objection to the planning application for a Wind
Turbine and ancillary works at land adjacent to Poolway Farm,
Gloucester Rd, Coleford. (Application ref. P2110/11/FUL) in the name
of Poolway Wind Ltd.
We feel that this
development is entirely inappropriate for the area in which it will
be situated. This area is close to a residential development and is
itself defined in the Local Plan as a strategic open space. We
regard this as a rushed and opportunist attempt to gain planning
consent for what is a controversial subject.
The Forest of Dean
District Council must give proper consideration to the development
of renewable and sustainable energy within its Policy CSP.3 in the
Core Strategy. Guidance and proposals can then be brought forward in
a supplementary planning document. We are aware of the Bill before
Parliament entitled the Wind Turbines (Minimum Distances from
Residential Premises) Bill (HL) and under the proposed legislation
wind generators of this magnitude would be required to be a minimum
of 1500m from the nearest residential premises .
This is clearly not
the case in this instance, and probably accounts for the speed and
urgency of the application. DFV is not opposed to the use of wind
turbines when considering renewable and sustainable energy, but the
overall energy policy should be considered on the basis of what is
best for the entire area with consideration given to it's
environment and landscape.
We ask that you reject
this proposal.
